Our Founder, Rachel Collar, launched the Haus of HR just over a month ago, following a corporate HR career spanning over 20 years. Her first HR role was as a graduate trainee at Accenture HR Services. She went on to develop her career across a range of industries from distribution, financial services, sales manufacturing, food technology and most recently as the Head of HR for Mercedes-Benz Trucks. In our recent poll, a staggering 96% of you said that employees should have the right to disconnect from work.

So what does this mean?

UK workers are in the midst of an epidemic of hidden overtime. So demand is rising for the UK to follow France’s lead and make it law. This means that employees should have the right to not take work calls or read emails during their time off.

At the moment there are no plans to make it law in the UK. But, we’ll continue to watch out for any developments. It may be coming our way if employers don’t settle into a new way of working and agree on setting expectations and boundaries with their employees.
