It’s time to review your HR policies. We know it’s not a fun job, making sure your policies are up to date, and that you’re compliant with employment law is a really important task to undertake.
That’s because employment law isn’t only there to protect your employees from being treated unfairly. It’s also there to safeguard the best interests of your business too.
And while employment law really does help to create a much smoother, fairer, more genuine employer/employee relationship, my goodness, it can be a real pain to keep on top of.
That’s because things are always changing, updating and evolving. It’s not a bad thing. It’s great that our laws move with the times and that we’re all working hard to create a more balanced life for our people. But that does create a lot of paperwork!
It’s not always straightforward either. As a business owner or manager, you’d be forgiven for feeling completely overwhelmed at the thought of updating your documents – let alone creating them in the first place.
The thing is, it’s really, really important that you make the time for it. Because failing to create the right policies, or not updating them regularly, can put you at risk of landing in an employment tribunal if something should go awry. And none of us have the time, energy, or money for that!
Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be a total nightmare. It’s something that can be tackled pretty easily if you know where to start.
