Celebrating International Women’s Day

Let’s embrace equity!

Because today is about celebrating all the strong women in our lives – upholding their achievements and recognising their challenges.

But it’s also an important time to address the inequality that still exists in our society between genders. Yes, we’ve come a long way in recent years….

But while more than 50 years have passed since the first Equal Pay Act came into force, there is still a lot of work to be done. In fact, in April 2022 the gender pay gap was 8.3% compared to 7.7% in 2021.

In the UK the top 10% of male earners take home 16.1% more than the top 10% of female earners.

One of the things we can do to promote better gender equality is to make sure our own businesses are inclusive and don’t discriminate. Perhaps that means this International Women’s Day, your business will celebrate the day by spreading awareness to your employees.

There are lots of things your business can do to show its appreciation to women and keep gender equality at the forefront….

☑️ Invite a motivational speaker to your business, to hold workshops that help everyone understand the importance of equality both at work and outside of it

☑️ Invite female employees to share with everyone the times that they’ve felt gender inequality, to really drive home the impact it can have on someone

However you celebrate International Women’s Day, it’s important to mark the day, to demonstrate your company’s stance on gender equality, and to champion the exceptional women in your lives
